Who are you trying to fool being the old version of yourself while pretending to be the new version you dream of? You’re not fooling anyone, in fact, you’re playing the game the right way. You’ve got to live as is. This is not to be confused with faking it until you make it. That’s just toxic positivity and brushing things under the rug. Living as is means you are ready to face your deepest shadows that you have once brushed under the rug, bring it out, and deal with it once and for all.

This is called Shadow Work.

It’s kind of like in video games where you have mini boss fights and need to fight the “little” guys before tackling the big guy. You need to go through the training to prepare yourself for the bigger challenges that come with being the newer version of yourself. Typically, that newer version is someone who doesn’t care what anyone thinks and has confidence to handle what comes. If you’re someone who is afraid of what others think of you, or makes themselves small, then you need to go through your training, too.

We’ve all got things hiding deep inside that we’re ashamed of or afraid to feel. So, we lock it up and pretend it doesn’t exist. Totally understandable. A lot of these things cause us grief, pain, sadness, and depression. It’s awful many times. If it wasn’t we wouldn’t put it off or away. Truth is, you do need to handle these if you’re going to level up in your game. Naturally, you do not need to tackle them all at once and you don’t need to force healing. Do not go at it alone, either. Have someone trustworthy, supportive and even licensed to help you with these struggles.

At some point, and almost immediately, the moment you begin to process these deep shadows, a new you forms in your brain (neural pathways) and your old beliefs fade away, aligning more into your new beliefs. So, if you’re trying to be a top-notch CEO, then you’ll process the emotions buried within that help get you to being that top-notch CEO. But how?

You’ll receive the signs, don’t go looking for them.

That’s right. The moment you decide who you want to be, you’ll get excited and will be filled with the emotions of what it feels like to be that person. That sends a message to the universe that you want this.

Well, the universe is smart and knows that if you’re looking to level up in this game, you’re going to need to fix this issue you ignored back in the day. Because it knows what challenge can pop up with the new you, it wants to train this current version of you. 

These signs can come up as:

  • Unexpected expenses
  • Anger or resentment toward people you know
  • “Threats” of your safety and security or happiness in general

In other words, the things you fear to feel will be poked at, making you feel them again. This time, though, you will not brush it back under the rug. Instead, you will handle the situation as it comes to you. Yes, it is scary. Also, yes, you will overcome it and be okay. You will tell your brain you survived and are safe. That alone boosts dopamine in your brain and tremendously builds confidence. The best part? You no longer need to be haunted by those shadows that lurk inside of you. Release them!
